You scored as Cultural Creative. Cultural Creatives are probably the newest group to enter this realm. You are a modern thinker who tends to shy away from organized religion but still feels as if there is something greater than ourselves. You are very spiritual, even if you are not religious. Life has a meaning outside of the rational.

Bird news
Torr started moulting some time ago, because we still took him out flying he was loosing 2 feathers a time - one of each side so he would still be ballanced when flying (just like in the wild when a bird cant afford to loose the ability to fly for a couple of weeks)

Torr has just lost 4 primary feathers off his left wing. I think he did it on purpose so he gets to be lazy and hang around the avairy (where with a mad fluttering action he can get around).

Not a good week...
Whisper died on Sunday morning, we have no idea why. Poor thing was only 7 weeks old.
I have been ill all week, I'm allergic to some medication I've been taking - oh the fun.
Anyone going to Artificer? Have fun - that is an order.
See you all later when I'm more cheerful...

Aside from mucking about with my camera - theres a few more pics in my gallery now (and being annoyed by the gremlins at work who control leave) I havn't been up to much.

I dont really feel like doing much either. D had his next batch of reservist paperwork. Currently his leaving date (leaving civvy street that is) has been set for 3rd November.

November seems a whole lot closer than it did yesterday.

As I have been threatening to subject you all to more pictures from my life, I realised I should get a camera.

I went to buy one... the one I liked was out of stock.

I get my new toy on monday. Then I will (as requested) have more pics of the bird, and maybe of the snake... if he's not hiding:)

About 2 months after we got Torr he snapped on of his tail feathers in half. Hes had a big gap that shows when he flies... now Torr is moulting. Hes just dropped the rest of the broken feather which means... Shiny new feathers! And no gappy tail!

... well I'M happy about it!

sooo...
The guy we got Torr from (eddy) is impressed by us. Torr flew in the displays at chopwell fair, one of eddys friends saw the show. Now we were helping an alleged professional falconer. Apparently Torr outclassed every other bird there by being very fit and trained properly! Eddy was chuffed to bits that we have raised and trained the bird so well, he's offered to take us hunting for wabbits and has offered us a barn owl!

Eeep!

There has been a slight hiccup on the road to getting the new bird.
The bird we looked at has grown to bigger than its mum. This means the bird is female... there for huge and crazy - and vicious... just like her mum! The breeder reckons she will fly at a weight of 2 and a half pounds, Torr flys at 1 pound 3 ounces... and Torr would loose the fight...

Good news is that two other chicks have been hatched by the same parents, hopefully one is male... unless the parents are purposfully going for big, mean kids...

So another couple of months to wait. By then we should have grass in the garden!

The saga of Torrs feet continues.

A friend reccomended Aloe Vera gel to keep his scaly skin in condition. There are 2 reasonable ways to get the stuff onto his feet.

1: Agile Toothbrush Method. gel on old toothbrush and then onto birds feet. Foiled by bird biting toothbrush, pulling out bristles and then throwing it away... a lot.

2: Steel Hand Method. Bird on one hand, gel on other hand. Give bird foot massage. Bird not happy, bird trys to do what he did with the toothbrush - but to my fingers.

Thankfully when he was younger he learned that biting doesnt stop me doing whatever im doing, so he doesnt bite hard... more of a nip really.

But his feet smell nice now, and have become clean and bright yellow. Hes in a huff hiding in the aivery...
